DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

As of April 2024, I accept United Healthcare, Aetna, UMR and Cigna. If your insurance company is not listed here, don't worry! There is a little-known fact about insurance: many companies will reimburse you if you see an out-of-network mental health provider. To find out if this applies to you, simply call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card and say, "I want to see an out-of-network mental health provider. How much will you reimburse me?" Once you know how much you'll be reimbursed, I can provide you with a monthly receipt to use for reimbursement.

However, it's important to note that when using insurance for therapy, I am legally required to provide a diagnosis to the insurance company, even if I don't believe one is necessary. I understand that not everyone wants a diagnosis, and that's okay. Sometimes you just need a safe space to talk freely and unload. If using insurance doesn't feel right for you, I offer private pay options and we can discuss which approach would work best for you.

ARE YOU DOING IN-PERSON OR TELEHEALTH?

I am no longer doing in-person therapy. I am doing telehealth ONLY.

IS THERAPY CONFIDENTIAL?

In a short answer, yes. Trusting that your therapist will hold onto your stuff in confidentiality is the cornerstone of a meaningful therapeutic relationship.

However, there are times that I would have to breach confidentiality.

1) Suspected (past or present) abuse or neglect of children, adults or elderly adults

2) If I suspect you're going to do harm to yourself or somebody else

Otherwise, what you say in the confines of our session completely stays between us!

DO I REALLY NEED THERAPY?

The reality is that therapy is beneficial for absolutely everyone, without exception. I know it may sound cliche, but therapy truly is therapeutic. Whether you're struggling with a mental health diagnosis, navigating a tough life transition, or just feeling stuck in a rut, therapy can help. It's a space where you can talk about anything and everything, without fear of judgment or shame. It's an opportunity to gain insight into yourself, build coping skills, and learn strategies for managing life's ups and downs.

So, let's challenge the stigma around therapy and embrace its transformative power. Therapy is for everybody, and there's no shame in seeking support when you need it.

WHAT'S YOUR PHILOSOPHY?

I firmly believe that every life experience shapes who we are as individuals. Each moment that precedes today has played a role in molding the person you are right now. In fact, there may be experiences that you didn't even realize were impactful. As your therapist, it's my responsibility to help you navigate through the complexity of these experiences and discover how you've adapted to the world around you in response to them.

We will explore your journey through childhood, adolescence, your relationships with your parents, friends, and partners, and every other significant entity in your life story. Why? Because each of these experiences has contributed to the person you are today. We'll unpack the webs that have woven your life story and work together to better understand how they've shaped you.

WHAT'S BEHIND THE NAME OF YOUR PRACTICE?

The name 'Valiant Wings' for my practice was chosen with a deep sense of purpose and symbolism. 'Valiant' reflects the courage and determination I recognize in each of my clients as they embark on their therapeutic journey. 'Wings' symbolize the freedom and liberation that comes from this brave journey of self-discovery and healing. Together, 'Valiant Wings' embodies the essence of my practice: a commitment to supporting my clients as they courageously navigate their struggles and transition towards a life of greater freedom, fulfillment, and happiness.
